
Andy Murray is the defending champion, winning a thrilling final against Juan Martin Del Potro last year. Murray came into some form again at Wimbledon and looked fairly good a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles where he came runner-up.
Roger Federer has made numerous early exits in the Masters Series this year and by his standards his efforts at the French Open and Wimbledon were disastrous with two quarter-final defeats. The Swiss is a two-time winner of this tournament and all eyes will be on whether he can get back to his brilliant best.
The big dark horse this week will be David Nalbandian. The Argentine was in blistering form last week and swept to the Washington title. He could face Robin Soderling in a cracker of a third round match
