Dementieva has not been in the best of form this summer but she has been determined to get as many matches as possible ahead of the US Open and she's shown plenty of fight to battle through two three hour marathons to reach the last four. After her second round slog with Kateryna Bondarenko, Dementieva was taken the distance again by Marion Bartoli, eventually seeing off the sixth seed 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
"I wanted to play some matches here. Sometimes you have to go through difficult matches to feel your game and your confidence," Dementieva said.
However this one may be a step too far. Wozniacki has been red hot over the past few weeks, winning the Copenhagen and Montreal titles. She will also be the fresher of the two after not even needing to strike a ball in yesterday's quarter-finals, Flavia Pennetta pulling out with a foot injury ahead of the match.
However Dementieva leads the head-to-head 3-2. They played three times in 2009 - Wozniacki won in Miami and Charleston but Dementieva secured an emphatic 6-2, 6-1 win in Cincinnati.

Federer is a three time Cincinnati champion, having won in 2005, 2007 and 2009. The Swiss looked back on song last week at the Rogers Cup where he finished runner-up, beating Tomas Berdych and Novak Djokovic on the way to the final. He is seeded to meet Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals which could be a fascinating encounter ahead of the US Open.
Nadal will be hoping to raise his game this week having looked a bit rusty in Toronto, surviving a couple of close battles before being outplayed by Andy Murray in the semi-finals. However, Nadal does not have a good record in Cincinnati. It is the only Masters 1000 event where he has never reached the final.
Murray will be hugely confident having just defended his Rogers Cup title, beating Nadal and Federer back-to-back and he will be the man to beat this week. In those wins he showed just how strong he can be as an attacking force on the hard courts. He knows what it takes in Cincinnati having won the title in 2008.

The world's best players are all back in town for the first ATP 1000 tournament of the summer and everyone will have an eye on finding form and scoring some crucial psychological blows ahead of the US Open at the end of the month.
The big news is Nadal's return to the tour after a well-deserved break following a brilliant June in which the Spaniard once again did the French Open-Wimbledon double. He is a former two-time champion of the Canadian Masters, winning in 2005 and 2008 and is hot favourite this week but Nadal is more vulnerable on the North American hard courts than on clay or grass.
Andy Murray is the defending champion, winning a thrilling final against Juan Martin Del Potro last year. Murray came into some form again at Wimbledon and looked fairly good a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles where he came runner-up.
Roger Federer has made numerous early exits in the Masters Series this year and by his standards his efforts at the French Open and Wimbledon were disastrous with two quarter-final defeats.
